Wavertree Appreciation Society has been around for over five years. After a managerial upset, we started again, new managers, new rules, new ways and new methods to help you and your business.
We have always been strictly historical but how much history can one facebook group wavertreeappreciationsociety talk about. A lot. Yes we can but its all been very anecdotal, one sided rather than just the history of the town we live and love.
So we decided, now its back in our full control and we have no outside influences, to do something for the members. The creative, the businesses and anything and everything that has breathed new life into our beloved little township.
We are not affiliated with the Wavertree Society, we never intended to be affiliated with them. We do enjoy seeing them on our group and they are most welcome. But what we are and who we are is strictly Wavertree appreciators of all she stands for.
Sitting here at my computer I can hear the sounds of Wavertree Mystery park, I can feel the sunshine of a warm autumnal [albeit Summer afternoon]. I can hear the beat of the traffic on Smithdown Road, the church bells. I can reminisce on the old days, the scents of baked bread, my Gran making dinner, the peas in the pod that I happily peeled at ate as I sat with them on my knee in a bowl, shelling them for dinner. Oh the sights, smells and sounds of Wavertree.
Now has that changed? no but we are older and although we could stay stuck in the past like enjoying an episode of The Royal St Aidans Free Hospital, or Heart Beat or just get with the Hippy Hippy Shake of the Beatles and just stick in the past.
We would miss out on a lot that the young people of our Township have to offer, School will start again soon. New children off to Primary and Senior schools. New schools, new Technology.
In deed we had a world of pen and paper and now we have entered the world of the computer, the apps, the phones, the mobile phones. Joy oh Joy of remembering the past and Joy oh Joy of Embracing our future, their future.
So here we are, old and new, past and present still Appreciatiing our Township of Wavertree but embracing whole heartedly a new venture and a future.
The futures bright, the future is........... OURS.
